Looking for a meaningful way to spend your summer or build valuable life-saving skills? The American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course at the Simon Family JCC offers comprehensive training that prepares participants to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies.

 

Whether you're aiming to secure a lifeguarding job, improve your swim safety skills, or challenge yourself with a rewarding certification, this training is your path to readiness and leadership.

Course Details

This is a blended learning course with both online and in-person components.

Before the First Class:
You must complete the online learning portion (approximately 6 hours). A link will be provided upon registration.

In-Person Training:
Held over four days at the Simon Family JCC’s aquatics center.

Dates and Times

Wednesday, May 14 • 3:30 - 7:30
Friday • May 16 • 3:30 - 7:30
Saturday, May 17 • 9:30 - 6:30
Sunday, May 18 • 8:30 - 11:30

Prerequisites

Participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 15 years old by May 14, 2025
  • Successfully complete the online coursework before the first in-person session
  • Swim 150 meters continuously, using front crawl or breaststroke
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs (hands out of water)
  • Immediately follow by swimming another 50 meters
  • Complete a timed event:
    • Swim to the deep end
    • Retrieve a 10-lb brick
    • Return to the shallow end and climb out
    • All within 1 minute and 40 seconds
