In celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month and in partnership with the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, join Kehillat Bet Hamidrash (Kempsville Conservative Synagogue), Temple Emanuel, and Temple Israel for Shabbat on the Reba and Sam Sandler Family Campus as they welcome guest speaker Jason Schachter McKinney.

McKinney is a singer, actor, and composer whose work is rooted in Jewish music, storytelling, and lived experience. He serves as Music Director and Cantorial Soloist at Temple Emanuel in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and has performed internationally at venues including the White House, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. His original works include Moments with Paul (Robeson) and Frederick, a Musical Narrative. Raised at the intersection of Black and Jewish identity, Jason explores themes of belonging, tradition, and voice through performance and education. He is the co-author of the children’s book "Jason Belongs," inspired by his own journey of learning that one can be fully and proudly both Black and Jewish.
