Kemper

Join the Holocaust Commission for a powerful evening of remembrance and reflection as we honor International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This year’s program, “1 Family, 4 Journeys,” welcomes German historian Thomas Kemper, whose research chronicles the remarkable and harrowing experiences of TIdewater's own Gonsenhauser family during the Holocaust.

Through his work, Kemper sheds light on the resilience, choices, and survival of one family whose story spans continents and generations. Their journeys remind us of the enduring impact of history and the importance of preserving memory.

This program is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Why Attend?

  • Engage in a meaningful conversation with Thomas Kemper about his research and the Gonsenhauser family’s legacy.
  • Reflect on the lessons of the Holocaust and the responsibility we share to combat hatred and intolerance.
  • Honor the memory of the six million Jews and millions of others who perished during the Holocaust.
